Well, in about 1 month we are expecting our first child! Baby Girl P is due Feb. 3rd, and we just finished up her nursery. Since we live in a wooded, lakeside neighborhood we decided we wanted to go for a cute, somewhat modernized woodland theme. We also wanted it to feel feminine without being too over the top pink/girly/frilly.
The walls are a pale seafoam color (Malted Mint by Olympic). I’ve used this paint color before and I just love it! I also added an accent wall in a mid-gray tone, which was then stenciled with the seafoam, white, and coral trees. You can find the stencil I used here. It took a while but I strangely enjoy the monotony of stenciling, and in the end it was totally worth it.The lamp is from Target, and the crib is Scoot by Babyletto.
Above the crib I knew I wanted add some more wood tones, so my husband cut, stained, and attached some cedar boards to make this wood slatted wall art. I painted the white sparrow silhouette, which I though would be really cute and playful. The tones play off of the crib.
For curtains I wanted to add another pattern, but with a much different scale, so I found gray and white cabana striped curtains from JC Penney on clearance. Score!
The glider is a Babies R Us exclusive with soft gray upholstery and white buttons and piping. I haven’t spent too much time in it yet, but so far I’m very happy with it. Above that my husband bought be this beautiful print by an artist named Teagan White. I love it!
The changing table was one of the biggest transformations of the nursery. It was a hand me down from my brother and sister and law that used to be in my nephew’s room. It was originally a deep cherry color and a bit more traditional.
To refinish it I sanded it down, wiped on some liquid deglosser, and then painted it Coral Reef by Valspar. I also replaced the hardware with some antique brass and ceramic pulls I found on Etsy. The art above the changing table was made by my husband based on a design I saw on Pinterest. There is a fox, a bunny, and a bear.
We finished the room off with some shelves and accessories, including these super cute/absurdly overpriced knit blabla dolls that my mom got for us. We’re really happy with the room and can’t wait to bring home our little one!
